… or better the mirror effect. Put her onto the ground and let her look into a beautiful mirror. Not a small one but a large old mirror and let her play facial expression. And ask her for eye contact via the mirror. That is your moment to take pictures. If you can, avoid flash light, try using a simple reflector and watch the reflections thru the mirror. Have fun with that play…

A stunning dance performance in the deep night, performed while a local party in the small village of Palma, Sicily. It was bad light, high speed dance movements but E-M1 caught the moments.

Look at me, that is exactly what her pose and her expression tells us. Enjoy and take your picture. In this case we found it better to convert into b&w due to more powerfull expression overall.

Expression and close to the subject, working with a full frame. That is what i often say is a key point producing impressive portraits. Catching the mood of a subject, steering the model into a special emotional state during talking with her, what you want to see, want to catch.

Such cost some preparation, for sure. You have to think on what you want to say, want to ask, You have to work on your own expression. You will be so close to your subject, that you are the mirror to her soul. So be aware of this, always ! And a bit of post processing is the normal way :)

A cat ..

.. yes, a cat, that is what she is. A cat. Look how she placed herself on the sofa, slightly wrapped into the veil. And look her face. I think she enjoys the situation and a touch of sensual female expression jumping over her face. Keep in mind, she is a 100% amateur with no posing skills at all.

And she did very well.

Female trap

Diamonds, necklaces, jewelry in any size, shapes or value are things, women can´t resist. I call such a female trap. As if they have glue on it their fingers stick to them, nearly unable to let them free until your credit card screams loud. A large fabrics or veil is such a trap too. A girl, inspired by photography, inspired by a story, willing to play, will be caught by the veil as well. Wrap it around, use it as scarf, as cloth, as bridal suit or why so ever. Such is a female trap as well and so much cheaper :)

And when she is caught in that trap, she is a trap herself. Just playing a bit with her facial expression, her pose and her face. You made her a female trap. Thats the moment to stop work !

It is not easy doing the impressive gestures indian dancer can do. It needs a lot of training and for european it is a challenging task to do like them. But she is a brave one and she is going to do it. Here i found her doing such facial test with a mirror.

OK, that is a way, esp. when clothed in original indian dance coustumes. She likes it much. And i have the chance to do some pictures :)

Long time no hear

What is on with Mrs. Robinson ?? Nothing ?? No news on her discovery in the loft ?? We tried to get into contact with her, but no chance. While knocking at her door we met her neighbor. Yes THE neighbor. He smiled and showed us a small window to get a view of what is going on in her house…what a chance.

There she was. WOW. Something was going on. She looked very concentrated, thinking on something. From time to time, she bowed a little forward to make notes, using her small Moleskin notebook….

And suddenly she had this look, this outstanding facial expression. Uuuuhhhhhhh, that is her hellion expression. We now understood her neighbor. Boys we were in the same situation, standing side by side in front of this little window of her house, like little boys, nervous, eagerly, like a peeping Tom ….. did she see us ????? We ran away like little dirty boys…. what a thrill !
