Be prepared. Always try to train what you want to do in an upcoming shooting. Try to train the scene and even make a try-on session with your model. It is essential to be sure that everyone knows what to do an how to do ! When the set comes to live there is no room for asking “How …?” Such a try-on session gives you an idea how complicted things can be. See this picture. It look simple to attach the crown to her hair. But when she practices her dance moves we saw it sliding away. Great laughter. Fortunately we were prepared. A handful of needles did the job and everything was fine and fixed. So the session could go on without any trouble.

Well, today she asked me to rework one of my pictures i took from her, the girl from Udaipur. She asked me to do it in B&W. She asked for the strong, crispy and powerful conversion. Okay, so i did it and here it is:

And while our indian girl from Udaipur is playing around with the veils, with her silk, her shining jewelry behind her occours a starnge action. While the music plays, the singers and the indian rythmic of music she moved more and more to this tones. Moving her body, her feet to the moving, not recognizing that Parvati is going to dance behind her. Powerful and full of energy. She is going to tke over the spirit of our indian girl, no, it is different, Parvatis soul penetrates the body of that Udaipurs girl, overtake her soul. Leading her to dance, to enjoy even life and feel the love of Shiva.

Or is it the princess in her rooms ? Playing around with her veils ? DMoving, dancing, feeling happy and free ? I dont know but it was a great fun shooting such scenes. It is easy, as told in former threads. Giving her a playbook, a scene, a role or just an idea where she can perform, guess what, she will do, she will perform and interpret it her way. The only thing you have to do is motivating, comment, give small hints or advices. And let the scene flow. Be surprised and shoot like hell …

It is not easy doing the impressive gestures indian dancer can do. It needs a lot of training and for european it is a challenging task to do like them. But she is a brave one and she is going to do it. Here i found her doing such facial test with a mirror.

OK, that is a way, esp. when clothed in original indian dance coustumes. She likes it much. And i have the chance to do some pictures :)

“I got to test”, thats what she said, while having a break. She looked some indian dancer pictures and films and saw their mostly static facial expression and their massive eye work, their support thru hands and gestures supported with arms and hands. She tried that a lot and had lots of fun doing so.

But a break is a break and while relaxing she is still thinking on what she had seen in the film, going thru the dancers positions, each by each, testing them in mind….

We are really interested in seeing her performing arts…

New themes, new territory. Dance is the theme, indian dance to be precise. This is a very special theme where one need more. More costumes, more make up, more jewelry. The dance is totally different to the dance we know and it is not only the moves but facial expressions as well. So you have to study it before designing a scene

Ready for the next step. It arrived. We are so happy to announce that our original indian dancer costume arrived. It is so beautiful in its colors: Orange, Green, Gold. Some jewelry is included. That gives us the chance to enter a complete new world: The world of indian dance, the world od Bharatanatyam, perhaps next Khatak and Odissi. Depends on the arrival of further costumes. The sizes are about european size 38 which should be M or L. We have to try out … Do you like it ?
