Relaxed…

After the job is done, even an archangel deserves a break. When everything is well done and no additional work loaded onto the wings, a break is a wonderful chance to relax and refuel a bit. But not with sweets, chocolate. But with some very fresh glass of water.

She her smile, She is a happy archangel. She did well and the boss is satisfied with her work. So she enjoys her break. As a bonus she got bigger wings… :)

Enter the beach

Sunny day, just a bit of wind, Blue sky, wonderful water. No rain, no snow anymore. Not warm. Just about 12°C But the sun was just fantastic. So my girls decided for a walk to and along the beach of Zingst.

And trust me: I enjoyed is as well. Do it the same way. A beach, a coastline has so many attractive details for photographers. Go and shoot !

Put into the view

What a boring view. Standing on a bridge and looking over the blue and flat sea. Okay, the sky is blue and some nice looking clouds on it. pfffttt… a tourist picture. But did you see whats to your right ? To your left. Did you recognize the specific things ?? LOOK ! And put them into your view, put them into the frame, into your viewfinder, into your picture and suddenly you got a total different composition. A picture, with a WOW-Effect…

Well, nature can not be stopped. She holds out her fingers and will occupy their new space. Just watch and do not ask me to clone away that drought fingers of grass, coming in from left. That ARE the intruders :)

The flow of water

Go to your local dealer and invest some small money into ND filter. 2x, 3x and 4x ND filter are best. I took them for my wide angel lens and was lucky enough to see that the filter size matches 3 other lenses as well :). If you are smart you will take larger diameter filters and use a step-down adapter ring :) Just a tip. Now stack them together and dial down your aperture to, lets say 16 or even 22. Mount your cam on a sturdy tripod and the next river is your landscape model. Best results are with very long exposure times. 15 to 30 seconds in my case. And do not forget to dial down your ISO to the lowest value ! And now have fun

At night all cats are gray …

It is said, that at night all that cats are gray and so will be all your pictures taken in the night ? Really ? NO! Just see the colors in the night, they are indeed a bit different but still there.

Had a walk

The weather was fine and together with some photographer friends we made a guided citytour. The guide, a wonderful girl, had deep and intimate knowledge and gave us exciting informations on the city we love so much. BTW we all went through the town just with Olympus E-P3, one E-500 and i saw one E-30 as well. But the rest walked with Pens and some new OMD Systems. That was great fun.

We saw wonderful light, warm, golden, touching ancient buildings.

and yes, some rotten bicycles as well.
It was a fantastic experience again, walking with my buddies, sharing same interests and using their equipement as they used mine. We had fun, fun, fu. So what prevents YOU from doing the same ?? Ask your friends, find a date and just do IT. You will enjoy it like we did

From time to time it is helpful to recalibrate not only your monitor but your eyes as well. Too many beautiful girls and you are too fast used to their beauty and you will not recognize their special items. So go out into nature and snap a little trees, grass flowers. bees, ants, whatever you like

This is my contribution. nAture is A. It is a very welcome new world. so different in colors and it helps to rediscover the beauty of …. you know what i mean :).

Unusual view

“Sweetheart, this cruising ship is amazing. I really enjoy sitting here in the sun looking onto the blue sea. Come on, take some nice pictures.” You see ?? You understand ?? Fxxxx is again in your head, no relax, no refreshment. But you hear yourself saying “Sweet idea, darling, wonderful as you said ” and you grab your camera with a deep big grin in you face while sitting in your chair put it overhead and KLICK here we have it.

a wonderful and unusual picture. Both are served. And another thing just happend. You got appetite of doing more such pictures. Now go, walk thru the ship always looking for unusual views.

Sometimes you just stand in front of them. You just have to LOOK and arrange it a bit in your viewfinder.

It is so easy, you can even do it with a P&S camera. No hightech cam needed. Just your feet, your eyes and a bit of taste. So have have fun and use your vacation for unusual pictures. They will find their place in your photobooks and your guests after the travel will see them with open eyes and open mouths…..

And dont forget the view onto the blue seas….. All of them could be done with a simple and cheap P&S cam. Keep this in mind. But look out. In some cases, with bright and shiny parts or bright white areas you may dial in a + Compensation, perhaps +1 or +1.5 EV. No tricks, no miracles, no massive post processing. Have fun.
